Why this project exists
We started after hearing the same thing around Christchurch: pool info existed, but practical context was hard to find in one place. The goal stayed modest - make planning less fiddly.
2019-2021: informal notes
The first version was a shared spreadsheet with timing notes from families, shift workers, and occasional swimmers.
2022-2024: process building
We introduced a small editorial process: each entry needed context, source date, and a confidence note.
Now: public information format
The current site keeps the same principle: practical guidance, clear limits, and no inflated claims.
How we decide what to publish
If a detail is unstable, we flag it as variable or remove it. We'd rather be slower and accurate than publish a tidy but misleading summary.
